Pipestoppers and pipe freezing systems
A new four-page leaflet is available from Huntingdon Fusion Techniques showing the entire Pipestoppers range of mechanical pipe plugs and Pipe Plug Freezing products
The sites are old gravel pits, sand quarries or similar, lined with about one meter thickness of clay to contain any harmful constituents.
Holes are drilled around the outside of the clay lining and pipes, typically 100/150 mm diameter: any gas entering the pipes can be sampled by inserted probes.
This monitoring is to ensure that no methane escapes and there are no breaks in the clay lining.
The sampling points are about 50 metres apart and the sites are usually about 1.5 km diameter.
This type of monitoring by Argus has been carried out for some time already in the UK and the Huntingdon Fusion Techniques plugs have replaced rubber test tube type bungs or plastic screw on caps which have been found to be unsuitable.
The HFT plugs have a quick release seal to which a gas monitor can be connected.
Huntingdon Fusion Techniques (HFT), which manufactures a wide range of expandable and inflatable plugs, were quoted as saying, "We are pleased that a company such as Argus has found our plugs suitable for their application.
The plugs are used for a variety of applications from leak testing to purging but it is always good to know of new applications.
The range is readily available from stock in the UK and more information on the HFT Pipestoppers range of plugs and stoppers is accessible via the website". Request a free brochure from Huntingdon Fusion Techniques ...
