Welding large LNG terminal pipelines in
the USA

The HFT Quick Purge system has been well accepted in the USA, where distributor COB Industries sees immediate application in the Chesapeake Bay LNG import terminal construction work

Darren Sewell, Managing Director of Huntingdon Fusion Techniques, has just returned from a business trip to the USA where he met sole distributor COB Industries in Florida COB Industries had previously reported some alignment difficulties using standard weld purge systems in large diameter pipes

In addition to making a routine visit to discuss commercial matters therefore Darren took the opportunity to take over an HFT Quick Purge system so that COB could be introduced to this more advanced technology, which among other things produces a self aligning purge arrangement.

During a demonstration of Quick Purge it became clear that not only could the alignment problem be overcome, but that significant time and gas savings could be achieved.

COB promptly placed orders for a range of systems covering the pipe diameter range 250 to 800mm (10 to 32 inches) to the value of GBP2500 for immediate delivery from HFT stock in the UK.

The equipment will be used during a significant expansion of engineering and processing facilities at Cove Point in Chesapeake Bay, one of the largest LNG import facilities in the USA.

The gas processing and transport systems are manufactured using stainless steel pipes.

The order is a further reflection of the increasing confidence being placed across the world on the Quick Purge concept developed and manufactured by Huntingdon Fusion Techniques. Request a free brochure from Huntingdon Fusion Techniques ...
