Ice plugs for emergency repairs can now be made on pipes up to 12 inches diameter using the Accu-Freeze pipe freezing system from HFT
Any stationary liquid inside a pipe can be frozen with this automatically controlled liquid nitrogen freezing system, so that pipelines do not need to be drained: it enables relatively high speed repairs in critical areas In cases where water or other fluid systems need to be on line continuously, the Accu-Freeze system can be set up, a repair or replacement completed and the pipeline returned to normal in a fraction of the time that it would take if the system had to be drained
Ice plugging offers the additional advantage that the fluid in the system can be saved.
