Huntsman Advanced Materials and adhesives helped the leading French motor sports team, Pescarolo Sport to a strong finish in 3rd place at the Le Mans 24 Hour Endurance Race

The Pescarolo Judd LMP1 car, driven by Jean-Christophe Boullion, Romain Dumas and Emmanuel Collard was one of 28 prototype cars taking part in the race and was developed using a range of Huntsman rapid prototyping materials and shared technical expertise with the Pescarolo engineers The Huntsman materials used in the Pescarolo development project included a range of high performance products, such as:

* RenShape BM 5055 epoxy tooling board for pre-preg tools.

With its fine surface structure, BM 5055 is easy to machine and has good dimensional stability.

It is also heat resistant up to 140C making it ideal for endurance automotive applications.

* RenGel SW 18 / Ren HY 2404 / HY 5159 gel coat resin.

This temperature resistant epoxy system can be polished to a high gloss finish and is also styrene resistant.

* Araldite 2014 two component epoxy paste adhesive can bond a variety of substrates.

High strength and gap filling, Araldite 2014 is highly resistant to water and chemicals, including petrol and oil and is heat resistant up to 120C, so it is able to withstand aggressive high stress environments over a protracted period.

* Araldite 204 is a one component foaming adhesive originally developed for the aerospace industry.

It comes in extrudable paste form and expands to fill voids.

It can be used at temperatures up to 120C.

Michel Elkoubi, of Pescarolo Sport, who managed the development collaboration with Huntsman Advanced Materials said "We are absolutely delighted to have put in such a strong performance at Le Mans, the toughest event in endurance motorsport.

Working with Huntsman for materials and supporting technical expertise was a major factor in our car's excellent result here.

Having world-leading high performance materials available to us ensured we could produce a prototype car of the highest possible standard.

The durability of those materials has been proved here this weekend and we'd like to thank Huntsman Advanced Materials again for all the support!.
