Mike O'Neill (Hawke International Fieldbus Division) is presenting a paper at the Profibus International Conference on a unique redundant configuration for Profibus-PA systems Normally, PA devices are connected to the segment coupler by a single pair cable, and this single cable delivers all power and communications with the connected PA devices, possibly up to 1.9km away
The SecureTrunkGuard from Hawke enables duplicated PA wiring so that even the most demanding applications (nuclear, sub-sea modules) can use the advanced benefits of PA systems with minimal risk to communications security.
This is the world's first real demonstration of redundant PA systems configuration.
