Conference on Waste Water Management
'Waste Water Management - Collection, treatment and disposal of municipal waste water' is the title of a one day conference being organised by ICE in London on 9th November
The Institution of Civil Engineers is providing the opportunity to hear from experts in the field of waste water management with a number of case studies and a technology review.
Titled 'Waste Water Management - Collection, treatment and disposal of municipal waste water', the conference will take place on Thursday 9th November, at the City Conference Centre, London, UK.
Book your place on-line, or by phone.
Mike Jones, Technical Manager, Welsh Water Asset Investment Framework, for AMEC, commented: "This conference brings together key people from Regulators, Asset Owners and Managers, Researchers, Operators, Consultants and Contractors, and gives an excellent opportunity for understanding all of our expectations and needs.
I look forward to hearing some exciting presentations on a wide range of topics, and stimulating discussion".
Andrew Baker, Reader in Physical Geography, University of Birmingham added: "As a co-ordinator of a government funded knowledge transfer network which aims to increase the use of fluorescence technologies in the water sector, I hope to be able to increase awareness of recent scientific advances in this field and of the applications to wastewater treatment".
Peter Matthews, Board Member at the Environment Agency: "I have spent many years in dealing with all aspects of regulation and I have seen the benefits of clarity.
Clear legislation provides a level playing field but it must have a reason and be practical, and be stretching but achievable".
Chris Binnie, Water Consultant, added: "London's combined sewer overflows spill on average once a week into the Thames with an annual spill volume of 30 million cubic metres.
Come and hear from the Chairman of the Thames Tideway Strategy Steering Group how appropriate standards were established.
Then hear about the alternative solutions that were considered and the proposed scheme of a 7m dia collector/storage tunnel over 30kms long costing about GBP1.7Bn".
Keith Jeffery, Margate and Broadstairs Project Manager for Southern Water: "Waste water and it's management is rapidly becoming one of the key resource issues of the future.
I'm delighted to be involved in this conference which I am sure will provide some insight into the technology and engineering we will begin to see used more and more as we move forward this century".
