The second IEE speciality conference for the water industry will be held on the 26-27 November at the Abington Hall Conference Centre in Cambridge, and has been extended to 2 days!

The first IEE speciality Conference for the water industry was a great success, bringing together 150 of the industry's control systems practitioners, researchers and suppliers This year the event has been extended to two days and will include a buffet in the evening to allow more time for networking and hopefully some entertainment

The technical programme includes four sessions dealing with developments in tools and architectures, strategy and planning in Scottish Water, Telecommunications including an update on a Telemetry protocol for the water industry, and a parallel session addressing developments towards XML standards and modelling.

One of the key issues facing water companies is how to justify replacing first generation telemetry systems, how to assess the balance between integrating legacy equipment and making the business case for new investments.

Many companies have got ambitious plans for replacement during the AMP4 period and the Keynote address on the second day will be given by Phil Bland from United Utilities who will provide a view ahead to AMP4 from a control systems perspective.

Phil was one of the pioneers in the successful application of ICA in North West Water many years ago.

This event will be of interest to investment planners, Project Engineers, Operations staff, suppliers, researchers and all those involved in the design, implementation or operation of systems controlling and monitoring water and wastewater treatment plants and distribution networks.

A trade exhibition will provide an opportunity to talk to some of the leading vendors and see some of their products.

Full information on the programme, venue and registration is available from the website.
