Leading Chinese academic becomes fellow of the IET

The Institution of Engineering and Technology, the largest engineering Institution headquartered in Europe, has made Prof Chang-Gen Feng a Fellow, the most senior category of membership

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the largest engineering Institution headquartered in Europe, has made Prof Chang-Gen Feng a Fellow, the most senior category of membership.

The award was in recognition of his expertise, contribution and commitment to the world of engineering for more than two decades.

Prof Feng is Executive Secretary of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), an organisation which has made important contributions to the progress of science and technology in China.

The Association aims to support the nation's economic and social development and advancement in science literacy.

Prof Feng gained a PhD at the University of Leeds and is seen as a leading authority on the thermal explosion theory.

He has written more than 100 scientific papers and many books.

The IET is closely engaged with the Engineering and Technology community in China.

The Institution has an office in Beijing and is developing links with many key organisations.

Prof Feng received the fellowship from IET President Sir Robin Saxby at the Institution annual dinner.

Sir Robin said: "We are delighted to award Prof Feng a fellowship of the IET and recognise his long commitment and progress within the science, engineering and technology world.

We look forward to developing our relationship with CAST and working with other organisations in the engineering community in China".
