The Real-Time Finance composite application, developed by Invensys Process Systems, is designed to help align process manufacturing operations with business objectives by providing managers in process and packaged goods manufacturing enterprises with clear, minute-to-minute (as opposed to daily, weekly, or monthly) information about and visibility into production-related financial performance.
The Real-Time Production Execution composite application, developed by the Invensys Wonderware unit, enhances production agility by providing a powerful pre-integrated solution for dispatching, executing, monitoring, and evaluating manufacturing production and performance runs in discrete, batch, and hybrid plant operations.
The Invensys PCAs can be plugged into any existing industrial automation and IT infrastructure to deliver important new functionality.
This new functionality is enabled by standards-based interoperability between business processes that are managed within SAPR business applications and plant processes that are managed within Invensys InFusion Enterprise Control System and/or the Wonderware System Platform.
Specific enabling technologies include SAP NetWeaver; SAP xMII (Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence); and the open, standards-based Invensys ArchestrA technology.
Ulf Henriksson, CEO of Invensys plc commented, "As a SAP customer, Invensys understands the value that can be generated through the effective implementation of enterprise-wide business strategies.
We also know that there is significant potential value to be gained through real-time measurement and management of manufacturing assets.
By taking advantage of the industry and solution expertise from both organizations to achieve this, we can now bring tremendous value to our mutual customers." Sudipta Bhattacharya, senior vice president of solution management for SCM, PLM, and Manufacturing for SAP, commented, "SAP and Invensys share a common vision of an adaptive manufacturing strategy, and this announcement underscores our strong commitment in helping this vision into a reality for customers.
The recent SAP certification of both composites from Invensys helps fulfill our shared vision by reducing integration costs for connecting the plant or shop floor to enterprise solutions".
Through SAP xApps Certified status, partners and ISVs like Invensys deliver on the promise of enterprise service-oriented architecture (enterprise SOA) following the principles and standards of the SAP composite architectural guidelines.
Composite applications that are certified by the SAP Integration and Certification Centre reuse, integrate and orchestrate functionalities from existing application assets in the context of an enterprise SOA, with only selective development of new functionality where needed to fill gaps.
A composite application provides new application functionality, supports analysis followed by action (where appropriate), and enables the execution of business processes from start to finish.
It has the potential of repeatable deliveries to multiple customers.
