Invensys training simulator wins Dow
Corning award
A SimSci-Esscor training simulator supplied by Invensys Process Systems has won a prestigious Excellence Award in the Dow Corning 'Global Supply Chain Excellence Programme'

Built using advanced DYNSIM and FSIM dynamic simulation technology from the Invensys SimSci-Esscor unit, the operator training simulator (OTS) was installed at the end of 2006.
It has led to significant savings in training and manpower costs, enhanced plant safety and increased productivity at the site, where a complex distillation and polymerisation process is used to manufacture products.
The selection process for the annual Award applied the Quality Function Deployment methodology and submissions were rated in terms of: supply chain excellence, corporate priorities and business behaviour.
Hugh Woodward, Barry Site Control / Electrical Manager commented, "By achieving excellence within our Supply Chain we can better serve the needs of our customers.
The real time OTS has allowed us to practice different scenarios for our process, reduce variability and therefore reduce costs.
It is really pleasing for this to be recognised globally throughout Dow Corning".
