Off-sites and blending solution for
Murco refinery
Invensys Process Systems has won the turnkey multi-million dollar main contract to supply a complete off-sites and blending solution for the Murco Refinery at Milford Haven in Wales
This is an important investment for the refinery which will provide significant improvements in the safe and efficient operation of the Oil Movements System Phase 1 of the project comprises the installing of a wireless infrastructure to enable the operators to scan the status of plant equipment and synchronise this information with a new Foxboro I/A DCS with Order Movement and Management applications embedded

Phase 2 of the project will provide field services, mechanical, civil and electrical installation.
Continuous blending utilises in-line analysers to provide feedback control for the gasoline blending optimiser (BOSS) that delivers accurate control of gasoline quality, minimising giveaway.
Invensys Process Systems will manage the project and all associated services in partnership with Land and Marine, Extronics and ABB.

We chose Invensys based on their ability to deliver a complete solution to meet our needs" stated Nigel Tranter, the Refinery Manager: "This contract includes the delivery of the refinery off-site movement management solution from the Invensys Off-sites Centre of Excellence in Baarn, the Netherlands.
The training for operators, maintenance and engineering staff will be provided by Invensys Systems UK, from their regional offices in Warrington, UK.
The Milford Haven Refinery is a mid-size complex refinery of 5 million tons per annum.
It employs around 350 people from local towns and is one of the largest employers in west Wales.
In addition to making a commercial contribution to the area, the company also works with local communities to ensure that the environmental impact of the refinery is minimised.
