Compressed air monitoring from IFM
Electronic!
The new Metris compressed air flow monitors from sensing and control expert, IFM Electronic, provide a convenient and cost-effective way of monitoring compressed air consumption
The new Metris compressed air flow monitors from sensing and control expert, IFM Electronic, provide a convenient and cost-effective way of monitoring compressed air consumption, making it easy for users to ensure that this expensive resource is utilised effectively and economically Compact units which are designed for straightforward in-line installation, Metris monitors have integral displays which give an instant on-the-spot readout of air flow rate

IFM Electronic on show at Maintec 2008
ifm electronic will be at Maintec 2008, showing two innovative products aimed at optimising energy usage and plant efficiency: the efector metris and efector octavis
New flowmeter for smallest gas or air quantities
The flow meter efector metris is complemented by two further versions which can detect the smallest flows of gas and air
The displays may also be used to show peak flow rate or accumulated consumption, and they are also used as an aid for entering set-points and other operating parameters.
In addition to the built-in displays, the monitors also feature analogue outputs to facilitate remote monitoring, pulse outputs to make it easy for external equipment to record total consumption, and switched outputs which provide an immediate indication if the flow rate exceeds a preset, user-defined value.
The innovative IFM Metris compressed air flow monitors are offered in two versions, one covering flow rates from 4 to 1250 Nl/min, the other covering flow rates from 12.5 to 3750 Nl/min.

Keeping track of compressed air in larger pipes
When ifm electronic launched the efector metris a year or so back it caused quite a storm as the first affordable device to monitor consumption or leakage of compressed air, a major commodity
For both models, the operating point for the switching output can be set over virtually the whole of the operating range, allowing small changes in flow, which may, for example, be caused by leaks, to be readily detected.
As a further aid to precision, the analogue output span can be adjusted, so that the whole of the 0 to 10V output signal range relates to the band of pressures, which are of particular interest.
To ensure long-term reliability, high accuracy, and a fast response time, Metris compressed air monitors use sensing elements which operate on the calorimetric principle, and which have no moving parts.
All measurements are scaled to standard units - Nl/min or Nm3/h - and all are automatically compensated for variations in temperature and pressure.
IFM Electronic specialises in the application of advanced electronic technology to produce innovative and effective solutions for industrial control applications.
Products include flow sensors; pressure transmitters and switches; temperature switches and transmitters; capacitive, inductive and photoelectric proximity sensors; and a full range of AS-i I/O modules and masters.
IFM is committed to working closely with its customers to develop products which precisely match their needs, and the company provides expert, readily accessible technical support to help users maximise the benefits they gain from IFM products. Request a free brochure from IFM Electronic ...
