Updated pressure sensor and gauge combinations

An IFM Electronic product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Dec 7, 2004

Now, with the updated PN2 pressure sensors, the combined transducer and gauge has an enhanced display, with 4-digit LED characters clearly visible from a great distance

Renowned for their innovative pressure sensors, as one of the first to combine transducer and gauge into one robust package, leading supplier ifm electronic has launched new, updated models.

For many years ifm pressure sensors have provided trouble-free operation with their robust ceramic-capacitive measuring cell.

Now, with the updated PN2 versions, ifm electronic has introduced more flexibility, of benefit to OEMs and users alike.

The enhanced display now features 4-digit LED characters clearly visible from a great distance.

Usefully, the analogue output can now be scaled, in other words the analogue starting point and analogue end point mean the user can select their own setting of the sensor zero point and span.

A further improvement is in the accuracy, now 0.5%, and the repeatability, now 0.1% of the full pressure range, to offer the user more precise plant control.

OEMs will be pleased that the display now extends to more units (KPa/Mpa, psi) and the output can be configured for positive or negative switching, allowing the system supplier to employ the same sensor regardless of the country where the machine is to be installed.

These versatile PN2 pressure sensors are available to measure pressures from -1 bar right up to 400 bar.

While the switching output is selectable in polarity, the analogue output, too, can be chosen as 0 to 10V, or 4 to 20mA.

The housing and wetted parts are still made of high-grade stainless steel, complemented by ceramics and PTFE.

ifm is committed to working closely with its customers to develop products which precisely match their needs, and the company provides expert, readily accessible technical support to help users maximise the benefits they gain from ifm products.
