Planning for the 7th World Congress of Chemical Engineering (WCCE7) has passed another key milestone with the publication of the provisional scientific programme

Planning for the 7th World Congress of Chemical Engineering (WCCE7) has passed another key milestone with the publication of the provisional scientific programme.

Cast around five novel themes the programme embraces every aspect of chemical engineering science and practice whilst seeking to avoid the topic segregation that typifies a traditional chemical engineering conference.

WCCE7 is set to be Europe's largest ever stand-alone meeting of the process community.

It opens at Glasgow's SECC on Sunday 10th July 2005.

The congress has attracted major international interest with over 2200 authors in 72 countries responding to the call for papers.

Scientific Programme Director, UCL Professor David Bogle, believes that the radically different programme structure will encourage multi-disciplinary co-operation and promote knowledge exchange between different strands of chemical and process engineering: "We have used unusual theme titles like Managing Complexity, Engineering for Life and Molecules into Money to encourage people to focus on the purpose of chemical engineering in the 21st Century," says Bogle.

"The programme is designed to initiate thinking beyond traditional boundaries and promote dialogue with other disciplines.

We have always aimed to deliver much more than a conversation between chemical engineers and the terrific response to our call for papers suggests that people are responding to our challenge".

Following a process of rigorous international peer review, 2700 abstracts have been accepted for presentation in Glasgow next July.

Authors are now preparing full manuscripts for over 1200 oral presentations and 1500 poster presentations in advance of the submission deadline.

Outline daily programme grids, along with provisional session allocations for all plenary and keynote speakers can be viewed on the website.
