The collection and dissemination of safety information to a wide audience is a key aim of the long-running Hazards Symposium series.
"This publication will benefit anyone who is active in promoting or managing safety in the process sector, from plant managers and operators to academics in research and development," says Chairman of the Hazards Organising Committee, Martin Pantony.
"When it comes to health and safety matters, making the same mistake twice is completely unacceptable and sharing best practice is vitally important.
Safety shouldn't be a competitive issue and what works in one company may well have a relevance in another." Hazards XVIII Process safety- sharing best practice contains contributions from international industrial and regulatory experts and practitioners who presented the latest technical advances and new thinking in safety and environmental management techniques at the Symposium, which was held in Manchester during November 2004.
The 73 papers are grouped into categories: safety management; safe process design; issues from Seveso/COMAH; compliance with standards; transport and storage; chemical reactions; risk assessment and analysis; human factors and behaviour.
The 400 page printed text is complemented by a fully searchable CD-ROM.
