The IChemE 'Understanding the Pharmaceutical Water Supply Chain' conference in October will review the life-cycle of water in the pharmaceutical industry

How does water get to the tap? Will it always be there when you need it? These are two key questions that will be discussed at IChemE Understanding the Pharmaceutical Water Supply Chain conference in October The two-day event will provide an essential overview for anyone involved in the sustainable management of water resources for the pharmaceutical industry

The conference will take place on 11-12 October 2005 in Cork, the 2005 European City of Culture.

It aims to identify current trends in regulatory requirements, gain practical experience of existing installations and how to manage water as a key resource for sustainable operations.

Understanding the Pharmaceutical Water Supply Chain will address all aspects of an important pharmaceutical utility that is all too often taken for granted.

"Too often, reviews of pharmaceutical water focus only on the generation and distribution of compendial grades of water," says Derek Russell, Chairman of the Organising Committee.

"However, water is a precious and costly resource in the pharmaceutical industry, and companies are recognising the need to address the full cycle of water use, treatment and disposal in order to reduce the costs of this very expensive raw material.

We have brought together speakers from the regulatory bodies, from suppliers and from operating companies to review the current state of the industry".

The event, to be held at the Rochestown Park Hotel in Cork, Ireland, is aimed at a broad range of people from operations managers to chemists, chemical and process engineers to utilities engineers.

There will also be an exhibition running alongside the conference providing delegates with an opportunity to advertise products to key figures from both the UK and overseas.

"Delegates attending this conference will learn the importance and practicalities of managing the water supply chain in the Pharmaceutical industry and have the opportunity to network with others within the trade," concluded Russell.

Under an earlybird registration the two-day conference will cost GBP405 to attend if you book before the 30 June.
