Invitations to participate in a series of industry-led spotlight sessions at the 7th World Congress of Chemical Engineering (WCCE7) will be issued this week
The funding will help to support the Catalyst 'Crazy Changes Show' for primary school pupils and the 'Partying Particles Show' for secondary school pupils.
"Chemical engineers can deliver solutions to some of the big challenges facing humanity.
But we can't achieve this without more talented, young people choosing careers in science and engineering," Dr Kevin Wall said: "IChemE supports campaigns, such as the Catalyst Education Programme, that inspire school-children with our passion for technology.
This will help to attract the next generation of chemical engineers who will tackle pressing issues such as climate change and providing clean water for the benefit of society".
On receiving the cheque, Director of Catalyst, Julie Burgess-Wilson said "Catalyst is delighted to link up with IChemE and welcome the support they give us.
It is critical that we continue to work with organisations such as IChemE to help knowledge and skills transfer.
More importantly, our partnership will encourage more young people to become scientists in the future".
