Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Sep 25, 2009

Out-of-print accident reports conducted by the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will be published on-line for the first time on the IChemE website.

A range of reports will be made available for free download in November and will be officially launched at the IChemE Hazards XXI conference in Manchester, UK.

Judith Hackitt, HSE chair, will be speaking at the conference.

The reports cover incidents including the Grangemouth BP Oil Refinery fires and explosion (1987), the explosion and fires at the Texaco refinery, Milford Haven (1994) and the Abbeystead explosion (1994).

Robin Turney, chair of the IChemE Loss Prevention Panel, said: 'These papers will make authoritative information readily available to all.

Andrew Furlong, IChemE director of policy, said: 'One of the key objectives in the IChemE safety work is to find mutually supportive ways of making SHE information available to a wider audience.
