Intellitect Water is making its debut at this year's IWEX with Intellisonde and Intellical - showing how to use advanced sensor technology to provide multi-parameter water quality monitoring

Intellitect Water is making its debut at this year's IWEX, with Intellisonde and Intellical which use advance sensor technology, rather than chemical reagents, to provide multi-parameter water quality monitoring Intellitect will show these new products on Stand R80 at IWEX, which is at the NEC from 1 - 3 May 2007

Intellisonde, which fits directly into the water distribution network, monitors up to 12 parameters, every five minutes, including chlorine, mono-chloramine, ORP, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, pH, pressure, turbidity, colour, temperature and flow.

Alarms can be set for each parameter and there is a spare sensor slot for water security.

Data can be provided in real time and sent wirelessly via GPRS or a radio network to a monitoring station or modelling software to give an early warning of potential problems.

Intellisonde uses proven membrane-free multi-sensor technology that is insensitive to pressure spikes and reverse flow issues.

The sensor head, which includes a stirrer for minimal flow periods, is designed to minimise the risk of fouling to the sensors, the development of bio films or metal coatings - all of which can affect traditional monitor readings.

The stirrer also has a novel feature of power scavenging by using the flow to turn the stirrer into a generator, powering the internal power supply to lengthen battery life.

The unit is capable of measuring and logging values at pre-determined intervals anywhere between 1 minute to an hour and can log up to 25000 sets of data readings.

Easy to fit, Intellisonde is a 'plug and play unit' taking just 10 minutes to install directly into water distribution pipes, even with calibration and testing.

John Howell, director at Intellitect, said: "The Intellisonde real time monitoring significantly advances incident management capabilities.

With early warning of problems, it can pro-actively reduce the number of incidents which ultimately become reportable to OFWAT and DWI.

The ability to constantly monitor makes sampling more cost-effective and will potentially offer an alternative method for the four million regulated and non-regulated samples each year".

Intellical is a hand-held device that has all the same 12 parameters featured in the Intellisonde but it can be a portable or wall mounted device.

With an auto chlorine calibration feature, Intellical will help non-specialist operators in making reliable and accurate recordings.

The unit eliminates the need for manual readings as it provides an integrated logging and communications via a range of wireless methods including GPRS, GPS and a local area radio network.

John Howell adds: "Intellical gives a pro-active approach to monitoring water quality around treatment works, pumping stations and spot checks throughout the network.

Its advantage is that there is no need for chemicals and reduces the cost of ownership".

Full details and demonstration of the Intellisonde and Intellical can be found on the Intellitect stand (R80) at IWEX.
