Engineers from all over the country will converge at Reading University next Wednesday (8 March) to see if they can come up with a solution to avert a potential energy crisis

Engineers from all over the country will converge at Reading University next Wednesday (8 March) to see if they can come up with a solution to avert a potential energy crisis.

Over 160 people will pack out the Palmer Lecture Theatre (White Knights campus) from 7pm to discuss everything from energy efficiency to where we could be sourcing our energy from in the future.

The event has been organised by the Thameswey Region of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), the leading global voice for the profession, in partnership with the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Electrical Engineers.

IMechE President, Andrew Ives, will open the event.

John Baxter, Director of BP and Fellow of the IMechE, will chair the debate.

Brian Walker, Honorary Secretary of the IMechE Thameswey Region, said: "Energy, how we use it and where it will come from, is something so crucial to every single person.

We need to ensure that enough is being done so that we will continue to have an adequate supply of electrical power in this country." Energy experts are being brought in to talk about the state of current and emerging technologies on fossil fuels, renewables and how we can simply be more energy efficient.
