Panzhihua hot strip finishing mill orders setup model from IAS: the planned automation for Chinese plant will give remote diagnostic input from Australia and USA

The Pangang Group International Economic and Trading Corporation has signed an agreement with Industrial Automation Services (IAS), Australia to supply and commission new setup models on the hot strip finishing mill at Panzhihua, Sichuan Province, China.

The models include advanced drafting algorithms, rollgap models and adaptive learning algorithms to improve head end thickness performance and consistency and reduce system maintenance.

Given the relative inaccessibility of the site, a key feature of the automation is its remote diagnostic system.

This gives IAS staff in Australia and the USA access to monitor performance, review reports and receive video images of the mill and pulpit.

This will facilitate problem diagnosis and improve the long-term performance of the mill.

The set-up models are being supplied with the assistance of IPSS and will be commissioned with assistance from ARIM who are supplying the mill Level 2 automation system.

IAS is also currently upgrading the set-up model on the Panzhihua tandem cold mill.
