Shape performance audit for steel mill
IAS has completed a shape performance audit for California Steel Industries five stand cold mill: significant improvements were made during initial two week site visit
In January 2003, California Steel Industries (CSI) purchased a Millcheck rolling mill shape performance audit from Industrial Automation Services (IAS) for the five stand cold mill at Fontana, California, USA The Millcheck audit is a systematic approach to the practice of rolling mill shape performance auditing
The audit set the benchmark of current mill performance and evaluated the impact of potential upgraded instrumentation, actuators and controls and provided diagnosis and correction of specific flatness problems.
A two week site visit was conducted in January with minimal interruption to production.
During this time, significant improvements were made to shape performance.
The Millcheck report presented in March includes additional recommendations for ongoing shape performance improvements.
