Plastics market positive for AZO at K2004

The world leaders in machinery and automated raw materials handling systems for the plastics and rubber industries registered a 35% increase in visitors to its stand from the 2001 show.

With one quote converted to an order within a week of the show, UK sales agents Ingredient Handling Solutions (IHS Ltd) are currently working on another twenty enquiries.

At more than 160 m2 the stand caught the eye of top plastics and additives manufacturers, as well as producers of PVC-treatment, compounding, extrusion, PVC-coverings and plastics processing.

The real money-spinner was the new Azodos continuous gravimetric dosing system with the Componenter contamination-free container system also proving very popular on the order books.

Self-optimising conveying systems were demonstrated alongside the Mixomat high-tech mixing and weighing system.

Subsidiary company HSH Systeme fur Prozess-IT GmbH is proving to be a competent partner, putting AZO in a position to implement manufacturing techniques with process technology.

This offers the customer increased batch tracking capabilities and maximum production safety.

The increase in plastics investment from the Far East was marked by the surge of visitors to the AZO stand from Russia, India, Pakistan and China.

Under the banner 'We speak your language' the international AZO team was able to help each visitor with advice and action in various languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese or Thai.

Phil Plummer, Sales Director for IHS Ltd says: "There was a significant loss of foreign exhibitors during the last show in 2001 following September 11 and the SARS epidemic.

But the rapidly increasing worldwide consumption of plastics seems to have lured both domestic and foreign visitors to Dusseldorf this year.

" Optimism was high among the exhibitors despite bad tidings such as the employment reduction in the automotive industry.

Phil continues: "The AZO management and the Azopoly division in particular are confident that our reputation and innovation will grow in line with the advancement of plastic as a material".

This year 2900 exhibitors appeared at the show, compared to just 270 companies at the first ever K exhibition in 1952.

With more than 230,000 experts on hand a record number of visitors were also recorded in 2004.

Machinery and equipment was transported to the show by more than 17,000 freight vehicles in over 4,000 trucks carrying loads of more than 7.5 tons.

At its creation the show demonstrated infrared lamps, convenient kitchen utensils and radios made of Bakelite.

Laymen and experts alike were generally amazed what could be done with plastics.

With technology and engineering continually evolving it's safe to say the same opinion prevails in 2004.
