This trend indicates that businesses are still not taking the threat to their manufacturing lines seriously, asserts industrial security specialist Innominate.
"They need to develop a keen awareness of the threat from virus attacks to their industrial Ethernet networks," confirmed Joachim Fietz, CEO: "Tom Tom has been strenuous in asserting that the virus does not affect the performance of the GPS and that there are no detrimental affects, but it's a bit like telling a diner that there was a fly in their soup but it has been removed.
Digestion of the alien body is unlikely to cause harm, but it does make the product seem less palatable afterwards! Quite simply, it is time that companies realised that manufacturing plants are as vulnerable to viruses as the office environment and take suitable steps to secure it".
Innominate promotes devolved security solutions, which includes device-attached security that secure machinery against interference - deliberate or accidental, as well its mGuard firewall solutions and its remote maintenance service for manufacturers.
