Accurate dispensing of 1.00 cc of gel

An Integrated Dispensing Systems product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Apr 24, 2003

A leading contract electronics manufacturer in Glasgow, Scotland required a specialist machine to accurately dispense 1.00 ccs of a mixed 2 part Shin-Etsu X-832-050 Silicone Dielectric Gel

The specialist gel was needed placed onto a high voltage circuit assembly, and had to be sourced from the USA via the Netherlands to meet the products exacting specifications.

Integrated Dispensing Systems supplied their Micro-Meter 2 Meter Mix Dispense System to match the customer's detailed equipment needs.

The Micro-Meter 2 is an air operated, positive displacement, single acting, two-component system, designed to meter/mix, and dispense small 'shots', or beads, of reactive materials.

The Micro-Meter 2 features precision shot size and flow rate control, positive displacement meter, Teflon rod packings, integrated power inlet and outlet valves (to control the A/B fluid direction during reload and dispense) and a PLC logic control panel.

Each meter is configured to accommodate the ratio and shot size requirements of the client application.

The Micro-Meter 2 utilises No-Flush disposal static mix tubes and protective shrouds.

For very small dispense volumes, the mixer assembly can be fitted with a Luer-Lok adapter and needle.

Features of the Micro-Meter 2 arer: Point of application dispensing; Readily integrated into automated applications through PLC; Precisely meter small volumetric shots of 2 component mixed materials; Minimum shot size: 0.02 cc/shot (1:1 pbv ratio); Maximum shot size: 3.52 cc/shot (1:1 pbv ratio); Dispense volume repeatability with cpk 13 achievable; Positive displacement meter, single acting; Power inlet and outlet valves; Dispense and reload rate control; Use with low or high viscosity materials; No-Flush disposable static mixers with Luer-Lok adapters.

Depending on the material properties and the amounts used, the supply device could be a cartridge, pressure tank, or pump.

The fluid supply device is attached to the Micro-Meter inlet ports and supplies the two material components to the Micro-Meter 2 under pressure.

The micrometer style shot size adjustment controls the amount of material that is metered and dispensed during a cycle.

This adjustment varies the stroke of the meter rods to control the volumetric output.
