Invensys contract for EnelPower

Invensys has announced a 3.6 Million Euro project from EnelPower for Invensys Systems Italy to provide a range of automation systems for the new Edipower Power Plant in Chivasso, Italy

Enelpower is the most important player in the Italian power market.

The project is a Thermo-CCGT Gas fuel 1140 MW construction of two Block Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants, to be located at Chivasso, in the Piemonte region of Italy.

The overall project, which is based on the revamping of a conventional thermo-electrical power plant to be converted into a Combined Cycle, includes : 3 Gas Turbines with Generators of 250 MW each: 3 Heat Recovery Steam Generators (horizontal) with 3 pressure levels: 1 Steam Turbine with Generator of 250 MW: revamping of one Steam Turbine with Electrical Generator: 1 Open Cycle Steam Condenser taking cooling water: revamping of one Open Cycle Steam Condenser taking cooling water.

The automation contract for this large project is valued at approximately 3.6 million Euro.

Invensys was selected over a competitive field of suppliers that included Siemens, ABB, Alstom, and Emerson.

The Invensys solution, which monitors and/or controls 28,000 I/O points, includes I/A SeriesTM automation systems, Triconex ESDTM systems, and Foxboro Foundation Fieldbus instrumentation.

Specific technologies utilised include OPC, Foundation Fieldbus, and Profibus DP.

The system is scheduled to be commissioned in April 2005.
