Synnove Finden ASA, the Norwegian food company, has placed an order with APV for over USD1.5m to expand the company's cheese-making plant in Alvdal, using the latest diary process equipment

Synnove Finden ASA, the Norwegian food company, has placed an order with APV for over USD1.5m to expand the company's cheese-making plant in Alvdal Synnove Finden manufactures dairy products at this site, which is located in the eastern part of Norway and is one of the largest cheese factories in the country, equipped with the latest high-tech dairy process equipment and systems

The story of Synnove Finden began in 1882 with the birth of a little girl named Synnove.

She grew up by a beautiful fjord in the western part of Norway, where she milked cows and goats.

Having acquired some "on-the-job" dairy training, Synnove founded the Synnove Finden Cheese Factory in Oslo in 1928.

Today the company is Norway's second largest manufacturer, distributor and exporter of traditional Norwegian cheese and dairy products.

Yellow cheeses, which are commonly used in sandwiches, baguettes, and pizza, are an extremely important product area, representing approximately 85% of the total cheese production of Synnove Finden.

The plant at Alvdal manufactures and distributes more than 7,000 tons of yellow cheese and approximately 1,000 tons of brown cheese (whey cheese) per year, based on an annual intake of around 80 million litres of milk.

"We needed to expand capacity in our cheese factory in Alvdal and that meant investing in new efficient process equipment, so we turned to APV", said Dairy Manager, Oeyvind Berg.

When production begins at the end of November, Synnove Finden will have one of the most modern cheese-making plants in Scandinavia.

The plant comprises cheese vats, prepress, SaniPress for final pressing and handling of hard and semi-hard cheese types.

APV SaniPress has built a reputation for being an extremely functional and flexible system, which combines exceptional performance with easy operation.

The new plant will also produce various European cheese types such as Edam and Gouda.

APV managed the project including the design, installation and commissioning of the new cheese-making plant.

APV has previously supplied equipment to Synnove Finden, and won this order in keen competition with other leading suppliers.

"One of the reasons behind this success was the confidence Synnove had in APV that has been built up over a long-standing close co-operation plus our ability to meet the Synnove exacting quality control standards.

APV is also well known for its expertise in the production of yellow cheeses." said APV Project Manager Mr Jarl Teilgaard from APV Norway.
