The Control of Vibration at Work and Control of Noise at Work Regulations, implementing the Physical Agents Directive in the UK, will come into force in July 2005 and February 2006 respectively.
"Let's Get Physical" is a one-day seminar on 13 July organised by the Institute of Acoustics Measurement and Instrument Group on the subject of these new regulations.
The meeting will be of interest to all Health and Safety Professionals, insurers and members of the legal profession.
Speakers from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the insurance industry will give their view of the implications of the regulations for employers and industry.
Having set the scene the meeting will then concentrate on practical aspects of hand-arm and whole-body vibration exposure; including measurement, control and health surveillance.
There will also be an opportunity to hear about the role of measurement in the assessment of WBV exposure and the assessment of other ergonomic factors associated with back pain, as well as whole body vibration in vehicles and the control of whole body vibration exposure.
The Health and Safety Laboratory, the UK's largest health and safety research and test laboratory will be hosting the seminar.
The laboratory has contributed to the preparation of the new regulations and the HSE guidance.
Those attending will have the opportunity to tour the noise and vibration test facilities.
On the 14 July the Health and Safety Laboratory is holding a one-day human vibration measurement workshop.
This is an opportunity for hands on experience of hand-arm and whole-body vibration measurement and exposure assessment.
The workshop is intended for those who require the expertise to make measurements themselves or to evaluate measurements made on their behalf.
While being ideally suited to those attending the Institute of Acoustics seminar it would be of value to anyone wanting practical experience of human vibration measurement.
Please note that places on the workshop are strictly limited. Request a free brochure from Institute of Acoustics ...
