Intertek acquires ICI Measurement Science Group

Intertek Group plc has acquired from Imperial Chemical Industries plc, its prestigious Measurement Science Group, based in Teesside, UK

ICI has awarded a four year outsourcing contract to Intertek as part of the agreement.

MSG enhances the Intertek advanced Analytical Services with internationally acclaimed scientific leaders in their disciplines and a comprehensive range of leading edge instrumentation.

All 42 current MSG staff will transfer to Intertek from ICI.

MSG operates at the Wilton Research and Development Centre in the North East of England, providing extensive measurement and consulting services to the chemical, polymer, pharmaceutical and related industries in Europe and globally.

MSG expands Intertek services by introducing new expertise and advanced measurement capabilities for polymers and plastics, composite materials, surface coatings, and adhesives.

MSG is established as one of the most highly respected measurement science facilities in the UK.

As part of the wider and international network of Intertek laboratories, MSG will continue to provide key services to ICI Global R+D operations.

MSG becomes the Intertek flagship Technology Centre for pioneering measurement services into new areas of growth, including nanotechnology, medical devices, intelligent packaging, advanced coatings and micro-electronics.
