Getting the most out of industrial networks - efficiency, profitability, and reliability, while ensuring security - must be a top priority in today's complex environment.

ISA offers the opportunity to discover the best ways to make networks perform at the new Network Optimisation Technical Conference and Training Event, 12-13 November 2003, in Houston.

The conference on 13 November focuses on making networks fully functional and increasing performance potential, while reducing operating costs.

Interactive presentations examine Ethernet and SCADA, as well as wireless telemetry.

In addition, participants gain an understanding of how to monitor and deal with their system traffic flow.

Moderator Matt Luallen, president and principal consultant of Sph3r3, LLC, is affiliated with the Information Architecture and Cyber Security Program Office at Argonne National Laboratory, US Department of Energy.

He has advised and consulted on information architecture, security and computer crime with several US government agencies, including the National Science Foundation, FBI InfraGard Program, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Luallen also instructs at DePaul University and the SANS Institute.

On 12 November, participants can attend an ISA Training Institute training course seminar before the conference, entitled Optimising and Securing an Information Architecture".

Conference moderator Matt Luallen is also the course seminar instructor.

The seminar covers development of information architectures that reflect a company's core principles.

Luallen discusses mapping of the high-level principles, business procedures, and technical solutions to increase a company's competitive edge.

After defining these high-level principles, the seminar delves into the technical procedures and applications to integrate and automate a securely optimised information system.

This event also features a product showcase offering a look at state-of-the-art network technology.

The Network Optimisation Technical Conference and Training takes place at the Hyatt Regency Houston Airport, 15747 JFK Boulevard, in Houston, Texas.
