Robert C Renner to join ISA as executive director

Lowell McCaw, President of ISA,the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society, announced the hiring of Robert C Renner as executive director.

At a special meeting of the ISA Board of Directors today, the Board accepted Renner's nomination from its search committee and appointed him to the position.

Renner is expected to join ISA within 90 days.

"Rob's leadership skills and understanding of what it takes to run a successful technical society made him a great choice for this position," said McCaw.

"We feel very confident in his ability to work with our leadership, customers and staff to enhance all aspects of our operations".

Renner is currently Deputy Executive Director with the American Water Works Association (AWWA), a position he has held since 1996.

Prior to joining the AWWA staff, he spent more than 20 years serving in a variety of engineering and management positions helping utilities optimise treatment plant performance.

"I have known ISA for some 24 years and have great respect for what the Society has accomplished," said Renner.

"The ISA history and strength present many opportunities, and I am looking forward to taking responsibility for moving the Society forward." Renner has a MS in Sanitary Engineering and a BS in Civil Engineering from South Dakota State University.

He is a registered Professional Engineer in both Colorado and Minnesota (USA).
