Gregory C Jensen of Saflink Corp, will address ISA Expo 2004 on how automation and control professionals have to change the way they think about the security of the systems, the site etc

Gregory C Jensen, Chief Technology Officer for Saflink Corp, will address ISA Expo 2004 delegates on Thursday 7th October at 0830 in Room 301 at the Reliant Centre in Houston, Texas With the world's current events and the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, automation and control professionals are changing the way they think about the security of the systems, the site etc

Today, professionals must focus on securing industrial networks against cyber attacks, protecting systems from hackers, discerning differences between an industrial environment and an office system, securing protocols with open-source technologies, and protecting industrial networks with network segmentation.

As a well-known authority on biometric technology, Jensen's presentation, "Biometric technology: prime time!" will guide delegates through the biometric technology landscape with a provocative combination of technical facts, historical tales, live demonstrations, and entertaining anecdotes.

Free to all ISA Expo 2004 delegates, each will leave with a clear and comprehensive understanding of the history, practical modern reality, and future potential of this technology.

"Biometric technologies such as fingerprint identification, facial recognition, speaker verification, iris scanning and hand geometry have long fascinated the imaginations of Hollywood but today they are sparking interest with more of the mainstream media", said Jensen.

"I am thrilled to share first-hand this technology-in-action keynote address to outline a technology that is on the verge of changing the way automation and control professionals and practitioners do business".

Jensen developed the first biometric network security product for Microsoft and Novell platforms, architected the first state-wide welfare identification system to use biometrics, and developed the first affordable biometric fingerprint scanner.

Jensen joined Saflink in August 1992 and served as Chief Systems Engineer, Director of Technical Services, and Vice President of Engineering before assuming the CTO position.

Prior to joining Saflink, Jensen was a member of the technical staff of TRW, involved in the research and development of image processing, signal processing, high volume data storage and high bandwidth datacommunications technologies.

He received a BS in electrical engineering from California Institute of Technology.

Jensen was a co-author of HA-API, the first biometric industry standard, and has helped to file a number of patents relating to biometric hardware and software.
