ISA - The Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society has announced its 2005 exam schedule for the Certified Industrial Maintenance Mechanics (CIMM) programme.

ISA - The Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society has announced its 2005 exam schedule for the Certified Industrial Maintenance Mechanics (CIMM) programme.

The CIMM exam sessions are scheduled for March 19th, July 16th, October 8th, and December 10th of next year.

The application deadlines for the respective exam dates are, February 4th, June 3rd, August 26th, and October 28th.

ISA will also hold a special exam session at the ISA EXPO 2005, which will be held on October 27th in Chicago, Illinois.

The 2005 schedule will mark the CIMM programme second year.

ISA began developing the maintenance mechanics certification after being approached by a consortium of petro-chemical companies based in Louisiana.

"We began contacting a number of different firms to find a non-profit organization-a neutral party responsible for testing and assessing our people," says Rod Lincoln a manager at Cytec Industries Louisiana operation and chair of the CIMM steering team.

"When you look at any maintenance department, it's divided into two sections.

Either people are on maintenance side or they're involved with instrumentation, so it made sense for ISA to handle both sides of this certification".

The CIMM exam fee is $195 for ISA members and $225 for nonmembers.

ISA plans to administer the exam in locations through the US, and at George Brown College in Ontario, Canada.

ISA will also schedule private, on-site exam sessions at no additional cost for groups of four or more people.

Additional information about the CIMM exam, including the eligibility requirements, exam dates and locations, and the key knowledge and skills, is available online at www.isa.org/cimm.

An exam study guide is also available for purchase, $29 for ISA members and $39 for nonmembers, through the website.
