Focused technical content is the main strength of the ISA Expo 2007, with five separate conference tracks: the exhibitors will be grouped into four distinct pavilions plus an industrial bus station

Building on the success of the ISA Expo 2006 technical conference, the ISA Expo 2007 programme committee held a summit meeting earlier this month to identify key topics of importance to automation and control professionals "Focused technical content is one of the strengths of the ISA Expo, and we're committed to developing a programme that addresses the issues that are important to our attendees," said ISA Expo 2007 Technical Conference Committee Chair Ian Verhappen of MTL Instruments

The 2007 conference, to be held at the Reliant Center in Houston, from 2-4 October, is being developed around five technology tracks deemed critical to automation and control.

Each track is chaired by an industry expert to assure that conference content is relevant and useful.

The five proposed tracks are:.

Industrial Networking.

Safety and Security.

Process Automation.

Environmental and Quality Control.

Systems Integration.

The Industrial Networking track is chaired by Dick Caro of CMC Associates.

The industrial networking sessions will focus on wireless applications and updates on ISA-100, bus benefits and applications, the SCADA communication revolution, and network resiliency.

The Safety and Security track, both of which were popular conference topics at ISA Expo 2006, is co-chaired by Paul Gruhn of ICS Triplex and Dick Oyen of Oyen Industrial.

The security sessions will centre on the regulatory environment, risk analysis, auditing, incident and vulnerability reporting, and ISA-99 updates.

Presentations about safety issues, including new SIS hardware developments, SIS lifecycle tools, the separation of control and security, alarm management, and safety system test experiences, will round out the track.

The comprehensive Process Automation track, chaired by Rick Williams of Andon Specialties, will give attendees an in-depth look at advanced regulatory control, model predictive control, batch control, and the next generation of manufacturing technology.

James Tatera of Tatera and Associates chairs the Environmental and Quality Control track.

This track will feature sessions covering process analytical technology (PAT), power and energy legislations, emissions monitoring techniques, wastewater applications, and data management of measurement systems.

Finally, the Systems Integration track, chaired by Dean Ford of Maverick Technologies, will focus on asset management integration into plant systems, enterprise application integration, operational dashboards, and technology lifecycle management.

Dozens of volunteers contributed to the outlining of the conference tracks, including professionals from Dow, DuPont, Johnson and Johnson, Kenexis, NIST, Tyco Health Care, and UOP, among others.

In addition to the conference, ISA Expo 2007 will feature a cutting-edge exhibition with hundreds of companies displaying their latest products and services.

Focused technology and product pavilions give attendees a chance to narrow in on their key areas of interest.

Pavilions planned for ISA Expo 2007 include the software solutions pavilion, the environmental pavilion, the industrial communications pavilion, and the sensors fair.

A new addition to ISA Expo 2007 is the Bus Station.

The Bus Station will showcase leading industrial bus protocols.

Meant to be a one-stop-shop for bus technology and information, the station will offer comprehensive presentations on the latest bus information.
