ROMeo for naphtha complex real-time
optimisation
BP's Refineria de Castellon selects SimSci-Esscor's ROMeo solution for Naphtha Complex Real-time Optimisation project: solution will result in significant benefits to BP and meet new EU regulations
BP's Refineria de Castellon has selected SimSci-Esscor's ROMeo solution for a naphtha complex real-time optimisation project This solution will result in significant benefits to BP through the adoption of this "right-first-time" manufacturing philosophy to meet the challenge of the new and strict EU 2005 environmental regulations

ROMeo 3.0 online modelling and optimisation
SimSci-Esscor has announced the release of ROMeo 3.0, the next-generation of its online plant modelling and optimisation solution for process facilities
Invensys Process Systems, a world leader in industrial process control, and BP Plc, one of the world's leading petroleum and petrochemicals companies, have announced the start of a unique project agreement.
Under this agreement, the two companies will jointly implement the ROMeo rigorous on-line modeling and optimisation solution from Invensys SimSci-Esscor unit at the BP Refineria de Castell¢n, in Spain.
The solution will be engineered and commissioned using a combined BP/ Invensys project structure.
This tightly integrated solution, incorporating several reactor models from third parties, will enable BP Refineria de Castell¢n to minimise costs and enhance profitability, whilst improving unit yields, production flexibility and meeting future environmental constraints.
"Historically, the operational set-points of our naphtha complex remained constant, even when equipment limits or feed qualities demanded a change to those directed from the plan.
With the advent of technologies such as ROMeo we can execute the optimiser several times per day to recognise operational changes and update key decision variables as required.
In addition its "open-architecture" allows for easier integration of third party reactor models and a more sustainable solution overall" said Alvaro Remolar, Advanced Control Head, BP Refineria de Castell¢n.
"Building on past successes, this project award signifies the continued development of our commitment to BP to help them achieve their corporate objectives" said Jennifer Tippin, Director of Global Accounts at Invensys.
