"SimSci-Esscor is committed to upgrading core products such as the Pro/II solution to meet new customer demands as well as evolving technological challenges", said Alastair Fraser, SimSci-Esscor's Vice President of SimSci-Esscor's Simulation Business Line.
"The latest enhancements we've made to this flowsheeting and optimisation solution make it one of the most advanced solutions in the market and position it as a global industry standard for the petroleum refining and petrochemical industries for years to come".
The upgraded system provides a direct link to the Xist heat exchanger program developed by Heat Transfer Research (HTR).
Users can access the HTR Xist user interface directly from the Pro/II system's graphical user interface for data entry and results review.
SimSci-Esscor's solution can transfer input data from the rigorous heat exchanger to the Xist program or back.
Additional enhancements to the Pro/II system's openness and software connectivity provide engineers with better connectivity to third-party calculation packages.
Complying with the Global Computer Aided Process Engineering (CAPE-Open) standards, the solution provides support for integration of third-party thermodynamic property packages and unit operations that adhere to the CAPE-Open standard.
The system includes enhancements to the batch distillation module which enable users to perform a variety of tasks such as calculating vapour-liquid-liquid equilibrium at the condenser and allowing condenser and reboiler conditions to be used as specifications.
The upgraded module also enables users to draw trend graphs that demonstrate how each of the variables will change during operation.
The upgrade also supports copy and paste functionality for unit operations.
New feed and product streams are automatically created for a pasted unit operation and the internal specifications of the old unit are duplicated to the new unit.
Other new features include seamless integration with Dynsim, SimSci-Esscor's dynamic process simulator solution, and upgraded transport property methods that provide new calculation procedures for liquid density, liquid viscosity, liquid thermal conductivity, surface tension and vapour viscosity.
