Latest version of PRO/II simulation software from SimSci-Esscor delivers enhanced flowsheet design and process optimisation capabilities

The SimSci-Esscor unit of Invensys Process Systems has released Version 7.1 of its PRO/II steady-state flowsheeting and optimisation simulation tool A widely used standard throughout the oil, gas, and hydrocarbon processing industries, the PRO/II program is designed to address and solve the complex challenges faced by today's process and design engineers

The new version of PRO/II system provides significant new benefits for users through enhanced lifecycle modeling, improved productivity and support for open standards and third-party modeling integration.

Under the Sim4me common modeling framework, PRO/II Version 7.1 enables the seamless transfer of data from the PRO/II environment to the Romeo environment for online optimisation and performance monitoring.

The Sim4me framework also allows users to easily migrate flowsheets created in competitive products to the more advanced PRO/II environment.

Another significant PRO/II Version 7.1 feature is the integration of the SimSci-Esscor Pipephase steady-state multiphase flow simulation package into PRO/II for embedded upstream hydraulic network calculation along with downstream process flowsheets.

The interface supports recycle streams and integrated optimisation, allowing rigorous modeling of the interactions between piping/production networks and associated processing facilities.

As previously announced, PRO/II now also provides integrated rate-based distillation technology via the Ratefrac module as well integration with KG-Tower design software from Koch-Glitsch.

Version 7.1 also includes new thermodynamics functionality for handling complex chemical systems plus several additional enhancements that can significantly improve engineering productivity by reducing model development and convergence time.
