New version of Industrial Application Server

Invensys Wonderware has released a new version of Industrial Application Server, built on the ArchestrA software architecture, which adds support for Windows 2003 systems and Stratus ftServer hardware

Wonderware, a business unit of Invensys Systems, has announced the release of a new version of its FactorySuite A2 (A-squared) Industrial Application Server, which is built on the ArchestrA software architecture.

Version 1.5 now offers support for the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 operating system running on any associated hardware, and the Stratus ftServer hardware family of continuous-availability servers.

The Industrial Application Server 1.5 has been thoroughly tested on the newly released Windows Server 2003 operating system, enabling users to immediately leverage its increased performance, functionality and scaleability.

It also supports the Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Microsoft Windows XP operating systems.

In addition, version 1.5 supports the Stratus ftServer family, which provides new continuous-availability options for supervisory control and plant intelligence systems using Wonderware FactorySuite A2 products.

The Stratus product family support includes the ftServer 3300 series, a cost-effective, fault-tolerant server designed for continuous uptime.

Version 1.5 of the Industrial Application Server also offers major new enhancements to provide even more capable FactorySuite A2 solutions, offering increased performance, robustness, upward scalability, high availability, improved alarm and system management and object validation.

It further decreases application engineering costs with the addition of several reusable component templates designed for plant intelligence and calculations, such as Event Monitor, SQL Server Access, OLE-DB Access and Generic Calculator application objects.

The Industrial Application Server provides real-time data acquisition, alarm and event management, data manipulation services and collaborative engineering capabilities, which have been designed from the ground up for use across a broad range of industrial applications.

Its primary benefits to industry include significantly reduced engineering time, lower cost of application ownership and maintenance, scalability, flexibility and an extensible software framework.

The Industrial Application Server is central to the evolution of the Wonderware FactorySuite A2 product family.
