mine in Chile
The state-of-the-art Foxboro SCADA solution will remotely monitor, supervise, and control the electric distribution system at one of the world's largest and most modern copper mines
Division Norte of Codelco, the Chilean national copper mining company, has awarded Invensys Systems Chile a US$2 million contract to provide a state-of-the-art Foxboro electric distribution SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system at the company Chuquicamata mining complex Chuquicamata is one of the largest and most modern copper mines in the world and accounts for more than 70% of Codelco total copper production

As part of a complete electric SCADA solution for the mine, Invensys is also retrofitting the controls at 26 electric substations utilising the latest Foxboro RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) technology and implementing a comprehensive suite of EMS (Energy Management System) and DMS (Distribution Management System) applications.
This represents the second major Foxboro electric SCADA system that Invensys Chile (a unit of Invensys Process Systems) has implemented for Codelco in recent years.
The earlier project, for the Codelco El Teniente division is in the final stages of installation.
