Control valves pass 100k stem cycles with Supagraf
French-manufactured Dresser Masoneilan control valves are now fitted with Supagraf control gland packing to meet the stringent VOC emission control levels specified in ISO 15848
It contains details of over 40 different compression packings for every gland sealing application in rotary and reciprocating pumps, valves, tank lids and furnace doors, as well as many other static and dynamic duties.
A Quick Reference Chart helps engineers to short-list suitable packings for an application before studying detailed specifications.
There is also information on custom-designed and non-standard products.
Of particular value are new data on Supagraf Control, the VOC fugitive emission control packing for control valves that meet TA-Luft requirements and plant designed to the European Union IPPC Best Available Technique (BAT) requirements.
Another new product is Valcor Hi-Temp, braided from stable, non-hazardous fibres, for high efficiency static sealing and slow rotary applications at up to 1000C constant.
Other James Walker grades will handle extremes of temperature, pressure or speed, and provide efficient long-term sealing with the most chemically aggressive and highly abrasive fluid media.
A number are approved for use with potable water, liquid and gaseous oxygen, foodstuffs or pharmaceuticals.
Explained Andrew Goulding, the James Walker compression packings product manager: "We design and manufacture packings for every gland sealing duty, using a vast range of materials such as PTFE, graphite and synthetic fibres, as well as the hardest-wearing natural yarns.
Many of our products have state-of-the-art lubricant packages impregnated during manufacture to provide easy start up, speedier run-in and very low-friction operation - for reduced torque and power consumption - plus longer adjustment-free sealing life".
The packed gland remains one of industry's most popular sealing devices.
It is simple to install and maintain, exceptionally reliable and remarkably cost effective in comparison to complex alternatives.
Stockholding costs can also be slashed when a single grade of length form compression packing is suitable for many different valves, pumps and other plant across a site. Request a free brochure from James Walker and Co ...
