The Vision - A first in bolted joint technology
James Walker RotaBolt have launched the "Vision", the world's first safety bolt to give a clear indication - visible up to 25 metres away - of loss of tension across a bolted joint
Bolted joint reliability on oil+gas in the Caspian
Over the last 12 months, RotaBolt technology has been introduced into a wide variety of applications to deliver bolted joint reliability for oil and gas operators in Azerbaijan and the Caspian
The new version gives a much more accurate measurement of bolt extension to guarantee the uniform delivery and maintenance of load.
RotaBolt have applied their technology to produce bolts which are individually load test calibrated and fitted with a special indicator to measure extension.
Every bolt even has its own certificate of extension measurement.
"These improved bolts are a generational step forward for direct length measurement," commented Rod Corbett, managing director of RotaBolt, "as a centre of bolting excellence, we have been able to apply our expertise to dramatically improve the performance of the original concept".
The new fasteners were developed as part of a project where "standard" direct length measurement fasteners had been specified and designed-in, but were failing to perform to expectations.
RotaBolt was called in and conducted an extensive programme of research and development, working closely in on-site training and testing, to successfully deliver the desired reliability for the client.
The core range of RotaBolt fasteners uses tension control technology to deliver assured bolted joint reliability.
The unique technology accurately measures and maintains tension across the bolted joint and gives either a tactile or visual indication as soon as any tension is lost.
RotaBolt is increasingly being recognised as a global centre of excellence for bolted joint technology.
It is working closely with leading operators in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, power generation, civil engineering, environment, transport and defence, and is continuing to achieve new standards of safety and reliability through the application of its expertise and technology.
