Two courses on the European market at
PittCon 2004

"Chemical Regulations in Europe" (Wednesday, March 10), led by Peter Short, who has 30 years of experience working in the chemicals industry, will provide a discussion on the basis of European chemicals legislation.
It will focus on the regulations that apply to the sale and transport of hazardous products, including those relevant for labels, MSDSs, and briefly highlight other requirements such as control of chemical weapon precursors that will help companies to identify potential problems before they occur.
tJP provides a unique blend of analytical scientific experience, particularly in the analytical, pharmaceutical, forensic and environmental sectors together with proven business development competence to aid smaller, often more dynamic US organisations to achieve European business success.
Peter Jenks, the managing director of tJP, has over 20 years experience in building European business for specialist laboratory suppliers, including VWR International Inc, Promochem Group and LGC (Teddington) Ltd.
In analytical science, he has experience in chromatography, clinical chemistry and trace element analysis, and has also been involved in the BERM Symposia.
He specialises in optimising the US-European relationship and has set up distribution for a number of North American companies in Europe and India.
Peter Short is a principal consultant at Safety Data Services.
He has spent the majority of the past 30 years with BDH, Merck Darmstadt and VWR International Ltd.
He specialises in advising on UK and European chemicals legislation, particularly relating to labels and MSDSs.
He is a member of the Chemical Hazards Communication Society (CHCS) Steering Committee, chairman of the CHCS Trainer Assessment panel and a member of the UK Chemical Industry Associations Classification, Hazard, Information and Notification (CHIN) Working Group, amongst others.
