In response to customer requests John Crane has extended the range of products available from its Type 2800 family of non-contacting pump gas seals, which also now feature design enhancements

While improving seal performance and stability over a variety of operating parameters, these design changes also help operators meet the ever-increasing demands for minimal barrier gas consumption The new Type 2800 Extended Range seals offer increased sealing efficiency and reliability, and are especially well suited to chemical and petrochemical type applications where zero emission performance is essential

The original John Crane Type 2800 range offered the first high performance double cartridge, gas lubricated pump seals on the market, and their selection for numerous recent large projects has significantly increased the numbers now in use.

The expanded Type 2800ER range now includes 34 standard sizes, which allow both imperial and metric shafts to be accommodated.

The design changes have resulted in reduced gas consumption (by up to 50% in some operating conditions) plus enhanced seal performance at both low pump speeds and high differential pressures.

Extended seal life and reduced power consumption are among the other benefits.

The inboard seal differential pressure limit has been upgraded, as has the gas barrier pressure limit for pumps operating at slower speeds.
