Dramatic seal water savings of up to 97% are now available from a new water control system launched by Safematic: water only flows to the seal when cooling is actually required

Dramatic seal water savings of up to 97% are now available from a new water control system launched by Safematic By optimising seal water consumption, the new SmartFlow intelligent control system creates an effective, reliable and economical way to combine optimum seal performance with significantly reduced costs

Because water used to cool mechanical seals and lubricate seal faces must be filtered before use and then treated prior to disposal, minimizing the volume of water used for cooling brings immediate cost savings.

Unlike other seal cooling systems, the Safematic new SmartFlow unit satisfies the growing need to reduce seal water usage by allowing water through to the seal only when cooling is actually required.

The secret lies in a heat-activated shape memory alloy spring that opens and closes the flow channel according to fluctuating temperatures.

Able to adapt automatically to different pressure and temperature conditions, the compact SmartFlow unit also filters the water prior to use to prevent blockages in the system.

It is based on proven technology, is easily installed, needs no wiring or electrical supply, provides reliable operation and is virtually maintenance free, requiring only an occasional check on the integral filter.

The unit fail-safe design also prevents seal failure in the event of a fault developing.

The SmartFlow can also be coupled with a Safematic Safeunit flowmeter; a unit that accurately monitors seal water performance, auto-detects failures in advance, and warns of seal water leakages.

Together the two units create an integrated, effective and economical seal water control system that provides genuine cost savings and contributes towards increased life-cycle profits.

A new brochure has been produced which provides more details of the SmartFlow unit.
