Improved short DBSE motor to gearbox
coupling
The latest short DBSE (distance between shaft ends) coupling design from John Crane brings important new benefits to any application where traditional gear-type and grid couplings have been used
The latest short DBSE (distance between shaft ends) coupling design launched by John Crane brings important new benefits to any application where existing gear-type and grid couplings have traditionally been used Developed in response to specific customer requests, the new TSR coupling needs no lubrication, no maintenance, and provides a true 'fit and forget' solution with a virtually infinite operating life

Non-contact type 2800X sealing in non-turbo use
A new John Crane brochure describes the Type 2800X non-contacting dual seals, outlining their particular suitability to large-bore, non-turbo rotating equipment applications
In contrast to existing gear couplings - which frequently suffer from poor lubrication, seizures that cause broken shafts, and excessive tooth wear due to flexing - the ATEX approved TSR is a dry membrane coupling specifically designed for applications where the DBSE is between 3mm and 50 mm.
It has no relative moving parts which can wear, and thus needs no lubrication or maintenance.
The TSR will flex to accommodate lateral movements, making it ideal for short DBSE motor to gearbox connections where a high degree of reliability is required.
A split spacer design allows easy access to the TSR membrane elements for maintenance or replacement without removing either of the connected pieces of equipment.
This makes the TSR ideal for any application where space or access is restricted.
The split spacer also permits easy mechanical isolation, and simplifies both shaft alignment and checking the directional rotation of the motor.
Complementary couplings for both standard and long DBSE applications are also available from John Crane.
Designed to be easily retrofitted by the end-user, the standard TSR design also offers a number of versatile installation options, which allow it to accommodate a wide variety of application lengths.
This means that customers need hold only minimal spares stock.
As with all John Crane products, the TSR is easily available from any location, and is supported by a genuinely global service and customer support capability.
