John Crane has significantly expanded its ability to provide locally accessible customer support and service options to Gulf region customers with the opening of another Customer Support Centre, this time located in Qatar.

Following just weeks after the launch of a similar new facility in Saudi Arabia, the new Qatari Centre provides customers in the region with easy, local access to the extensive John Crane support network.

The opening is another step in the ongoing programme to deliver a global scale support and service capability from bases, which are local to customers in every region.

Located in Qatar's Salwa Industrial Area, this strategically important new Centre has been opened in conjunction with Al Ahed Trading and Cont Co Ltd, John Crane's partner in Qatar for over 30 years.

Incorporating a fast-track workshop and fully trained and experienced John Crane engineers, the Centre offers engineering services, failure analysis, refurbishment and static pressure testing, along with a round-the-clock on-site emergency service capability, plus a variety of asset management and reliability optimisation services.

Genuine John Crane spare parts are available from the Centre, and can be held on behalf of individual customers as bonded stocks in order to reduce supply times.

John Crane's association with Qatar stretches back over 40 years, and the company is now a major supplier of mechanical seals to this area.

With over 6000 wet seals and 400 gas seal cartridges installed in the country, John Crane now has a major market share and a comprehensive customer base which encompasses the oil and gas, power generation, chemical and petrochemical sectors.

Al Ahed Trading has supported John Crane's activities in Qatar for over thirty years, and continues to provide invaluable support, according to John Crane EAA Commercial Director Ray Dorey.

"Partnerships with companies such as Al Ahed Trading play a most significant part in our programme of providing local access to our support and service facilities," he comments.

"We thank Al Ahed Trading for their continued support, and look forward to operating our new Customer Support Centre in partnership with them.

Heading the guest list at the opening of the new centre was the British Ambassador to Qatar, His Excellency David Maclennan.
