John Crane has again boosted its presence in the Middle East region with the opening of a dedicated wet seal service, manufacturing, repair and test centre in Iran.

The opening follows the recent launch of other new facilities in Qatar and Saudi Arabia, and underlines the great progress which John Crane is achieving with its aim of making comprehensive service and support facilities available to its customers no matter where they are based.

Located in the industrial town of Hashtgerd some 80 km west of Tehran, the new centre was launched at a ceremony attended by 200 guests, many of whom were in the region to attend the 2004 Iran Oil Show at which John Crane exhibited.

The centre will initially serve oil, gas and petroleum customers from all regions of Iran, and provide them with rapid, local access to state-of-the-art facilities.

Those customers will benefit from significant reductions in turnaround times on repair and maintenance exercises, with fully trained and experienced engineers on hand to provide support and service.

The centre will also hold genuine spare parts which can be stored as bonded stocks on behalf of individual customers in order to greatly reduce repair times.

A comprehensively-equipped manufacturing function will also allow hardware items such as sleeves and gland plates to be manufactured locally, in high quantities, further reducing lead times.

"Our new centre is an excellent example of the serious commitment John Crane has made to customers in Iran," comments the company's Area Manager, Farzad Shojaei.

"It will provide huge benefits to our customers, and plans are already in hand to extend the scope of the services we can offer from the centre.".
