Extended operation for seals with Safeunit Ultima

John Crane Safematic has launched an enhanced version of its Safeunit seal water control system that increases the reliability of pumps and process machinery while reducing water consumption

The new Safeunit Ultima is designed for use in harsh operating environments where high temperature, high pressure and chemically aggressive elements are present.

This makes it ideal for extreme applications found in pulp, paper and chemical industry processes, plus a wide variety of mining and general industrial uses.

The rugged and compact new Safeunit Ultima not only controls and monitors seal water flow and pressure, but also drastically reduces seal water consumption, by up to 80%.

This results in increased sealing reliability, longer process equipment uptime plus reduced shutdowns and lower maintenance costs.

The new Safeunit Ultima offers improved accuracy, greater resistance to chemical attack or corrosion, and reduced risk of clogging.

It simplifies the initial set up of the seal water system and can be adopted as a standard component of the seal water system, thus eliminating the usual need to accommodate a variety of piping components, valves and couplings.

This makes the Safeunit Ultima quick and easy to install and reduces the likelihood of pipe-work leakages.

It can also accommodate greater operating temperatures (up to 100C) and provides an optional 50 bar pressure capability.

The new design also incorporates an integrated check valve and an easy-clean glass-fronted display.

Moreover, the new flow meter design reduces internal pressure loss during operation.

Unique non-clog valves allow the Safeunit Ultima to provide reliable operation.

It is able to detect internal seal leakage and packing wear and the integral flow indicator and pressure gauge (with memory pin) offer easy status monitoring.

An electronic alarm is also available to warn of potential problems.

Different Safeunit Ultima options are available for use with packing or single flush seals, quench seals and double mechanical seals.
