High resistance platinum chip temperature sensors
With the higher resistance of Jumo PT 2000 and PT 5000 sensors, a greater resolution can be achieved since changes in temperature can be better tracked by the measuring or control equipment
High resistance platinum-temperature sensors have an advantage of offering a higher measuring sensitivity.
With the higher resistance of PT 2000 and PT 5000 sensors, a greater resolution can be achieved since changes in temperature can be better tracked by the measuring or control equipment.
This can be shown for example by considering a traditional Pt 100 element where the resistance change is around 0.4 ohm/K.
With the new Jumo Pt 5000 the resistance change is around 20 ohm/K.
This additional resistance offers tremendous performance advantages in low power applications or where a long twisted pair cable is needed.
The latest platinum-chip thin film technology from Jumo offers higher nominal values and is manufactured using the latest clean room technology.
Since the 1980's Jumo has been manufacturing a range of platinum chip and wire wound temperature sensors.
Due to technological advances in process and control, the platinum-chip-temperature sensors have been continuous developed and improved.
Market forces have demanded smaller chip packages which have led Jumo to further refine their platinum-microstructure.
What has resulted, is that the PT100, PT 500 and PT1000 can now be produced in smaller package sizes.
For example, the high ohmic temperature sensors (> Pt 1000) can now be produced in dimensions of 2.0 x 10 mm.
Jumo process optimisation has clearly been a success and have opened up the possibilities for new product dimensions, which up to a short time ago were seen as impossible.
