Optical Express + The Dental Clinic invest in quiet, bacteria-free air from Jun-Air to maintain stringent standards hygiene and ensure patients and staff are protected from bacterial infection

With its nation-wide network of 190 stores Optical Express combined with The Dental Clinic is one of the leading providers of spectacles, contact lenses, laser eye correction and dentistry in Europe, offering a combined optical and dental service under one roof.

Both services rely on dry, bacteria-free compressed air - the dental surgeries to provide suction for the patients and drive hand pieces, and the optical laboratories to provide power for the specialised equipment used in the production and polishing of high quality spectacle lenses.

To maintain the most stringent standards of hygiene and ensure that its patients and staff are protected from bacterial infection, the company invests in compressed air generators from Jun-Air, the leading manufacturer of compressors for the dental and laboratory markets.

Said an Optical Express spokesman: "Whilst some dental practices view a new compressor as an unnecessary expense, we believe that using outdated or poorly maintained equipment is a health risk to patients and staff.

Leading suppliers of air-powered equipment also acknowledge that a contaminated air supply can seriously impair the performance of tools that run at speeds up to 450,000rpm, as debris quickly clogs turbines and can cause them to burn out.

The Optical Express spokesman agrees that contaminated air is a risk to equipment and the practice budget and adds: "Specifying clean dry air ensures that expensive dental hand pieces don't suffer the excessive wear caused by air contaminated with dirt and moisture.

" The compressors supplied by Jun-Air are equipped with an efficient dryer to eliminate moisture, are rated for continuous duty and are virtually maintenance-free, making them ideal for single and multiple surgeries.

They are also extremely quiet achieving noise levels as low as 47 dB(A) in the optional soundproof cabinets specified by Optical Express + The Dental Clinic.

This means that compressors can be conveniently located inside the dental surgeries and the laboratories.

Summing up his reasons for buying Jun-Air compressors, the Optical Express spokesman says product quality and reliability come as standard and the extremely helpful staff and first class service are a bonus.
